Moire
Center for Arts and Culture
Port Tonic, France
Summer 2013
Situated on the Mediterranean coast in Port Tonic, France, Moire provides a center for arts and culture in the South of France.
The site is broken up and sliced into a perfect pedestal for the central gallery building. The visitors enter the site through a sculpture garden, and as they descend, the central vertical tower reaches upwards and radiates light out to the community. The slope of the site is increased near the water to provide a dramatic descent down a grand stair with integrated seating.
Moiré hopes to establish Port Tonic as a beacon on the Mediterranean, welcoming people in from the sea and land, creating a point of convergence between art, public space, and nightlife for the residents of Cote d’Azur.
